I have lobbied the Department for Business, Energy and Indistiral Strategy rellentlesly for ceramics.
Before recess I was meeting with the Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth Kwasi Kwarteng. We spoke about the challenges the ceramics industry faces in achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
I called for funding to help ceramics become a greener industry. Ceramics is heat and energy-intensive business. It will need government support to achieve net-zero by 2050, securing jobs for Stoke-on-Trent and help tackle climate change.
We have already been successful in securing the ceramic sector as a foundation industry.
This will open the doors to a £66m pot of money to help the industry tackle the environmental impact through research and energy efficiency.
