Jonathan has written to Gavin Williamson, Secretary of State for Education, about the need to deliver on Boris Johnson’s pledge to increase per pupil spending as soon as possible.
Commenting, Jonathan said:
"In Stoke-on-Trent, Kidsgrove and Talke there have been some incredible recent results in A-Level’s, BTEC and GCSE’s this autumn. It is testament to the hard work of our school leaders, teachers, parents and most of all pupils in achieving the recent success.
"However, schools are facing a challenging time financially and this could put at risk the excellent work done to date. Education is the bedrock for improving social mobility. Our schools need the increased spend per pupil to plan long term and help deliver a high quality education for all."
