I am delighted that the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport announced the freezing of the licence fee for the next two years.
She said: “This licence fee announcement will be the last. The days of the elderly being threatened with prison sentences and bailiffs knocking on doors, are over.
"Time now to discuss and debate new ways of funding, supporting and selling great British content.”
This is great news and I am pleased she has made it clear it is time to have a conversation about how the BBC is funded in the future.
l have made it clear, because the overwhelming majority of people from across Stoke-on-Trent North, Kidsgrove & Talke have told me time and again, its time to scrap the licence fee!
See my question about this here.
