This week I asked the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock , if he could provide more funding to Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the Royal Stoke University Hospital to increase our local testing capacity.
I was delighted he confirmed extra money will come to Stoke-on-Trent and we will have two additional walk in centres, in the city, with locations to yet he confirmed.
This is on top of the Regional Test Centre at the bet365 stadium that Cllr Abi Brown and I successfully lobbied for and the excellent work from Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Staffordshire County Council in creating extra capacity when there was a testing shortage nationally.
Together we have been able to remove ourselves of the national watch list as an ‘area of concern’ and we must continue to persevere and protect one another by adhering to HANDS, FACE, SPACE.
