Today in Business Questions to the Leader of the House of Commons, Jacob Rees-Mogg, I asked if there could be parliamentary time secured for a debate about protecting our heritages assets and tougher punishments against those who have allowed them to rot.
Sadly Price & Kensington Tea Pot Works is under the ownership of a rogue owner, who is allowing the site to crumble, at a huge cost to Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Section 215 and 216 of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990, means huge legal fees to the Council and small fines, £1000 in this case, against the owner.
I will apply for an adjournment debate as advised by the Leader of the House, to raise this issue once again and call on MHCLG to toughen the punishment so we can better protect and preserve our heritage assets.
This is something I know June Cartwright has been raising since last year and I will work with her, and others from the community, to find a long term solution for this site.
