This evening I was honoured to have the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, join me to meet volunteers and members of The Burslem Jubilee Project.
This outstanding community group offers support, companionship and activities to all asylum seekers and refugees within the local community.
The project provides English language lessons, and IT is available to support their development and understanding of the English language.
All the services who support the project refer individuals and their families, and Burslem Jubilee Project welcome any new or resident asylums and refugees to come along and join.
The project leaders are Sheila Podmore and Dianne Yeadon. A big thank you to these outstanding individuals for the dedication. I am delighted their hard work was recognised when the project was honoured to receive the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services in 2018.
