Yesterday I had the honour of visiting Churchill1795. A family business on its fourth generation in James and a CEO (Dave), who has worked his way from the shop floor.
I was excited by the long term vision the company had. The investment each year into technology and robotics means they are at the forefront. I was delighted they share my passion for Silicon Stoke and the need for more high skilled and high tech jobs that will feed perfectly into their company.
One of the most inspiring things was the empowerment of their staff. Using techniques from Japan for problem solving, they have trained around two thirds of their staff to skilled in solving problems. This means the experts on the shop floor have mapped out the process from ‘clay to plate’, and are finding news ways for better productivity. Valuing staff like this is inspiring.
