It was great to have Stoke-on-Trent City Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Daniel Jellyman, show the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Homes & Communities Michael Gove and I around Tunstall Town Hall as it continues to be refurbished, with completion aimed for autumn 2022.
An amazing £7 million investment into refurbishing and repurposing our history, which had left empty to rot for 30 years under Labour.
The refurbishment will see the new police post I campaigned for, 20-30 full time Council staff permanently based there, new library, children's centre as part of the governments new Family Hub programme, new public toilets and some office/meeting space for commercial rent.
We also walked part of Tunstall High Street to explain why new and enhanced powers to hold rogue and absent landlords to account is vital.
I pressed again with my Bill, inspired by Price & Kensington, to hold rogue owners accountable with increased fines, and welcome the new powers in the Levelling Up Bill to force landlords to fill vacant shops.
