I met with Marcus Warnes, Accountable Officer of Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG).
I raised how I am happy that the Haywood Walk-In Centre will become one of four integrated hubs, offering wrap around care, that should see better outcomes. I also restated my intention to lobby for the PFI deal at the Royal Stoke University Hospital is paid off by the government, to free £15 million per year back to the frontline.
However, I did raise my concerns that there is a shortage of GP’s, GP appointments and the CCG’s budget deficit. I will continue to monitor closely the work of the CCG and challenge, where needs be, decisions that won’t ensure the best possible health outcomes for the residents of Stoke-on-Trent North, Kidsgrove and Talke.
