Yesterday I wrote to Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, making it clear my concerns that key workers are still being sent to Manchester of Birmingham, instead of the bet365 Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent.
The testing centre at Stoke City Football Club is recognised as a national testing centre, but is not part of the regional lists that external organisations book to use.
This is simply not right and means risking any disease spreading by people having to go outside Stoke-on-Trent, Kidsgrove and Talke for testing.
I am aware that Stoke-on-Trent City Council have been sending people to the bet365 stadium for testing and will speak with University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust and Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust about this during the week.
I hope the government will give the power to direct the power to designate where testing happens to local authorities, and ensure this amazing facility that has been set up is used appropriately.
