I wrote the to Chancellor of the Exchequer,Rishi Sunak, seeking additional support for brewers. We are truly blessed in Stoke-on-Trent North, Kidsgrove and Talke to have the incredible
Titanic Brewery and it is vital we safeguard their longevity.
The significant package of financial measures that has gone to pubs unfortunately has not been extended in full to small breweries and primary supply manufacturers. With breweries having had a loss of revenue due to sales, HMRC is still holding them liable for beer duty payments and other business costs.
I am therefore suggesting ideas on how to help our brewers:
Halve beer duty for all British owned independent brewers for the remainder of this financial year
Flexible furloughing to protect jobs
Allow extra time to pay HMRC and help small breweries through reform to Small Breweries’ Relief
