It was a pleasure to sit in and intervene in the debate this afternoon, hosted by my friend and MP for Stoke-on-Trent South, Jack Brereton MP, on the standards of education in Stoke-on-Trent.
Clearly we have still a way to go, but there is a lot of good work at schools like Whitfield Valley Primary Academy, who are pushing forwards in ensuring students achieve well above the national average, raising their aspiration and releasing their potential.
We should be using the best examples of practice from across Stoke-on-Trent, Kidsgrove and Talke, to help level up education across our area.
I was also able to plug the need for a free school in the north of Stoke-on-Trent, in order to help raise standards and alleviate the pressure on school places, as I previously wrote about in the Stoke Sentinel
