In the Summer Adjournment debate I proudly shouted about how ceramics past, present and future.
I raised again how it is not right that the government and the Prime Ministers countryside retreat, Chequers, isn’t packed with Stoke-on-Trent tableware.
We need the government to change procurement rules for orders under £10,000 so ceramic manufactures, like Churchill China and Steelite, have a fair shot at supplying our world beating crockery.
I also called for some additional support for our cermaics manufactures due to COVID-19.
1. Extend the VAT cut to 5% to supply chains like ceramic manufactures
2. Extend the business rates holiday
3. Back the ‘Dine Safe’ campaign and have those in hospitality sector with chipped tableware be replaced to ensure they are COVID secure
We need to promote a campaign I am running with Jack Brereton MP and Jo Gideon MP to ‘Buy British, Buy Stoke’.
