Earlier this month I was lucky to meet Clare Wood from Re-Form who oversee and run the amazing Middleport Pottery.
They have done amazing work in rejuvenating life in the museum and surrounding terraces.
Harper Street is a big project which is shovel ready to refurbish 11 run down terraces houses for some small retail, office space, bring back the lodge keepers house for the museum and a new long term home for Middleport Matters Community Trust.
Sadly COVID-19 has put the project at risk and having lobbied the government for some of the £120 billion for capital projects, I am pleased to hear Historic England have given £240,000 towards the project.
I will now be lobbying the National Lottery Heritage Fund, who are responsible for the government funding, to give the remaining funds required for this important regeneration project.
