In the Summer Adjournment debate I proudly shouted about how ceramics past, present and future.
I raised again how it is not right that the government and the Prime Ministers countryside retreat, Chequers, isn’t packed with Stoke-on-Trent tableware.
We need the government to change procurement rules for orders under £10,000 so ceramic manufactures, like Churchill China and Steelite, have a fair shot at supplying our world beating crockery.
I also called for some additional support for our cermaics manufactures due to COVID-19.
- Extend the VAT cut to 5% to supply chains like ceramic manufactures
- Extend the business rates holiday
- Back the ‘Dine Safe’ campaign and have those in hospitality sector with chipped tableware be replaced to ensure they are COVID secure
We need to promote a campaign I am running with Jack Brereton MP and Jo Gideon MP to ‘Buy British, Buy Stoke’.
